    ...Avere un pensiero unico, assiduo, di tutte le ore, di tutti gli attimi... Non concepire altra felicità che quella, sovrumana, irraggiata della sola tua presenza su l'essere mio... Vivere tutto il giorno nell'aspettazione inquieta, furiosa, terribile, del momento in cui ti rivedrò.. Nutrire l'immagine delle tue carezze, quando sei andata via, e di nuovo possederti in un'ombra quasi creata... Sentirti, quando io dormo, sentirti, sul mio cuore, viva, reale, palpabile, mescolata al mio sangue, mescolata alla mia vita... E credere in te soltanto, giurare in te soltanto, riporre in te soltanto la mia fede, la mia forza, il mio orgoglio, tutto il mio mondo, tutto quel che sogno, e tutto quello che spero...
